How we treat it at AfterOurs
Do not rub the eye and do not try to remove anything that is stuck. A provider examines the eye and can remove a surface object when it is safe. Pain relief such as ibuprofen and antibiotic eye drops may be used to prevent infection. Deep or embedded objects need an eye specialist or ER.
When to come in
Come in the same day for redness, tearing or pain after something gets in your eye. Go to the ER if the object may have penetrated the eye or vision is affected.
